A 22 year old man, from Alice, Eastern Cape, is missing and is presumed to have drowned at Eastern Beach, East London.Geoff McGregor, NSRI East London station commander, said: 'NSRI East London duty crew, Police K-9 dog rescue unit, Buffalo City Municipal Fire and Rescue were activated at 06h45 on Saturday, 21st September following eye-witness reports of a man who had gone for a swim in difficulty in the surf and had then disappeared under water.'Our duty crew launched our sea rescue craft SPIRIT OF ROTARY and our LOTTO RESCUER rescue runner and our sea rescue vehicle, Police and a Police K-9 unit, EC Government Health EMS and Buffalo City Municipal Fire and Rescue responded and on arrival on the scene an extensive sea and shore search, including a search by Fire and rescue Services divers, has revealed no sign of the man.'Police divers and the Police K-9 unit will continue an ongoing search and Police are investigating.'A lot of beach visitors are at Eastern Beach and at beaches around the coast today and over this long weekend and NSRI remind sea users that we are in the full moon Spring tide, which brings much stronger than normal rip-currents, and storm seas brought on by a series of cold fronts.
