TABLE BAY – Malaria patient casualty evacuated off ship:

At 04h29 NSRI Table Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated to rendezvous with the Panamanian ship SUN BAY, sailing from Gabon to Singapore, to casualty evacuate a 29 year old Filipino crewman suffering from Malaria.Pat van Eyssen, NSRI Table Bay station commander, said: 'Our NSRI Table Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched our sea rescue craft SPIRIT OF VODACOM accompanied by 2 WC Government Health EMS rescue paramedics.'On arrival on-scene an NSRI rescue crewman and one of the EMS paramedics were transferred onto the vessel and the patient was secured and transferred onto our sea rescue craft.'He has been brought to PORT in Table Bay and transported to the Christiaan Barnard Memorial hospital by EMS ambulance and he is in a stable condition.'
