Edward Roussoux, NSRI Gordons Bay duty coxswain, said:'At 17h24 (Sunday, 21st July) NSRI Gordons Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority following a request for assistance from two jet-skiers reporting to be in difficulty on a shallow reef at Harbour Island, Gordons Bay.'Our NSRI Gordons Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew launched SPIRIT OF SURFSKI and our Swedish Rescue Runner INGE and our sea rescue vehicle responded.'Sea conditions were calm with hardly any wind.'On arrival on-scene we found two men, both from Zeekoevlei, Cape Town, had experienced motor mechanical failure on their jet-ski's and had drifted onto the shallow reef opposite Harbour Island and although not injured they needed help to recover their jet-ski's.'We managed to get the one jet-ski restarted and that gentleman was able to motor his jet-ski back to the harbour and the second jet-ski was taken under tow by our sea rescue craft and that gentleman and his jet-ski were brought back to the harbour.'Once both jet-ski's were recovered they required no further assistance.'Spirit of Surfski Spirit of Surfski
