Sea Rescue and AMS held an exercise in Wilderness on Saturday 9 February to make sure that in an emergency everyone is exceptionally well trained. It was also used as opportunity for the Wilderness volunteers to put their new rescue swimmers and trainees through their paces.All in all the NSRI Sea Rescue Helicopter Unit volunteers completed 12 jumps, with as many short line hoists. For Jaques de Bruyn, Jonathan Britton, Andrew Burrell and Bianca Rautenbach, these were their first jumps, and they all did very well.Discovery Rescue Runner 1 and Serendipity were used to back up the exercise, with Garth Dominy as coxswain and Mike Vonk as crew.The exercise was considered a success by all.Photographs by Warren Page can be downloaded from Sea Rescue's Flickr page for media use.The AMS / NSRI helicopter exercise in Wilderness.
