On Friday 25th January 2013 at 19:00 the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre requested that Sea Rescue medevac a scientist off the research vessel Fugro Gauss. At that stage she was 100 miles south of Agulhas. She was to sail closer during the night to bring her within reach of the Agulhas rescue boat Vodacom Rescuer VII. The medical evacuation was ordered by the duty Metro EMS doctor because. The patient has been suffering from severe sea sickness for 11 days. At 06:43 on Saturday morning NSRI Agulhas launched our rescue boat Vodacom Rescuer VII with a metro paramedic on board and rendezvoused with the Fugro Gaus about 15 miles south of Agulhas. The patient was transferred on board our vessel and taken to Struisbaai Harbour where she was handed over to EMS ambulance services and transported to Bredasdorp Hospital.
