On Sunday, 06th January, at 14h00, NSRI Durban volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority following reports of a container truck plunged into the harbour at the Port of Durban 'B-Shed'.SAPS Search & Rescue divers dived and recovered the driver of the truck from under water. He appears to be a local male aged in his mid twenties. The man has been confirmed to be deceased by paramedics and his body has been handed into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.Police are now in the process of recovering the truck and have opened an inquest docket which will also investigate the cause of the incident.
