NSRI EMERGENCY
OPERATION CENTRE (EOC)

087 094 9774
On Saturday the 1st December a huge joint exercise was held in Port Elizabeth. Sea Rescue is a member of the East Cape Emergency Services Coordinating Committee and as such were one of many participants in the exercise. Other participants were Metro EMS, Metro Fire, Metro Beach office, SAPS, Traffic, Coastal Water Rescue, Blue Water Bay Lifesaving and Sector Policing. The Exercise was to test the readiness of emergency services for the upcoming Festive Season. It ran very well, and for most new recruits was an awesome learning curve to see that many services arrive at a scene and to see how they interacted. The scenario was that a vessel capsized exiting the river mouth and that casualties were spread over a large area. We have received lots of positive feedback for all concerned and hope to conduct a similar exercise before Easter.
