Wednesday, 17th October, 2012.At 15h15 on Wednesday, 17th October NSRI Bakoven and NSRI Table Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crews were activated following reports of 23 year old Michael Gresak missing at Clifton's Fourth Beach after last being seen at Duiker Rock after the he had swum to the rock.Bruce Davidson, NSRI Bakoven station commander said that he had been on the beach with fellow College students at the time when he had reportedly gone for a swim to Duiker Rock.Off-duty Clifton Surf lifeguards responded to the scene and initiated a search launching their surf rescue rubber duck.Our NSRI Bakoven duty crew launched Rotarian Schipper and NSRI Table Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew responded by road.The SA Police Services, WC Government Health EMS, The City of Cape Town Disaster Risk Management, Police Divers, Law Enforcement officers, Camps Bay Community Medics and the EMS Skymed helicopter responded.On arrival on-scene rescue services and NSRI sea rescue craft joined the Clifton Surf Lifeguards searching in the vicinity of Duiker Rock off Clifton's Fourth Beach and after no sign of Michael could be found Police Divers were deployed search in the vicinity.During a Police dive search his body was located and recovered from under water. He was declared deceased by paramedics and brought to NSRI Station 2 Bakoven sea rescue base. Michael's body has been handed into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.His family, believed to be from Wynberg, Cape Town, are being attended to by Camps Bay Police trauma counselors.Police have opened an inquest docket.NSRI's Sincerest Condolences are extended to the family.
