Over the past few weekends, the members of NSRI Mykonos have been honing their sailing knowledge through the kind gestures of Sail Due South in Langebaan. This collaboration between the sailing school and NSRI has given our crew basic sailing skills, the associated terminology and yacht handling skills and helps our volunteers enormously. It is always greatly appreciated when the general public and businesses are able to provide support and donations to NSRI. It is through these kind gestures that the men and women of the NSRI are willing to risk their lives for those persons they don’t even know, day and night, in all sea conditions, for no remuneration. The best payment that is always visible to the Sea Rescue members is the relief and sincere thanks from those rescued. To all those persons involved in the successful completion of the sailing course, the Station Commander, Darius van Niekerk would like to thank Jaco Pieterse, owner of Sail Due South, knowing that Station 4 Mykonos is richer in sailing knowledge.
