The ‘Knights of the Missing Table’ undertook a trip to Port Elizabeth in December to watch the IRB Sevens Rugby Tournament. Held for the first time in the friendly city, the tour, as well as the tournament, was a huge success.
Of course a tour without fines – is not a tour. The NSRI Melkbos was chosen as the benefactor of the revenue from these penalties and other occurrences. This donation is in line with the Knights' pledge of civic duty – being on ‘Tsunami Watch’ 365 days a year – seated of course at their beloved table.
The cheque for R 1,500 was handed over at Doodles Beachfront by the current Chairman of the Knights, Carl Williams. Who are the ‘Knights of the Missing Table’The ‘Knights of the Missing Table’ are a group of intrepid (mostly Table View) locals – regulars of Doodles Restaurant in Table View. The group was formed 7 years ago when five of the most regular regulars, found to their dismay (horror, actually) that their favorite beverage resting apparatus (the round table) was gone! Then, lo and behold! The table mysteriously re-appeared one Sunday. This was of course followed with huge celebrations by the Knights. Today the table stands - engraved with the Knight’s insignia - in pride of place for all to see - in the main bar at Doodles Table View.
