Around 30 crew members from Agulhas and Hermanus Sea Rescue stations conducted basic helicopter training on Saturday the 1st October off Hermanus harbour. The Agulhas volunteers came down by sea on the Friday evening and returned late Saturday afternoon with a different crew giving them some valuable sea time training. Saturday’s training consisted of hoisting crew from the water using a strop as well as the basket. This was followed by hoisting crew from the rescue boats using the long line. A 16 man life raft was used to accommodate the swimmers whilst waiting to be hoisted.
