24 September 1951 - 30 August 2011Ray Farnham, Sea Rescue’s long time Plettenberg Bay station commander, passed away last night after a long battle with leukemia.Ray, affectionally known on the station as “Old Man,” served at Plett NSRI for 26 years. He joined the station on 8 January 1985 and has been a strong influence on his fellow volunteers ever since. Always willing to go the extra mile and caring deeply about his extended family at Sea Rescue he soon assumed a position of leadership.The three most recent awards that Ray received were: 25 years service 2010, Rotary Paul Harris Award 2008 and NSRI station of the year 2006.Ray will be deeply missed by all at Sea Rescue. Our condolences go to his friends, family and his fellow volunteers at Station 14.The Memorial Service for Ray is at 10h30 at the Community Church in Plett on Saturday 3 September.
