It is 20 years since the passenger cruise ship Oceanos sank on the 4th August 1991. On board were 581 passengers and crew. A Greek cruise liner, oceanos was sailing from Cape Town via east London to Durban. She sank off Coffee Bay on the Transkei's Wild Coast. In an amazing rescue, that to this day is a feather in our rescue service's cap, not a single life was lost.
