East London – Wednesday 27th July, 2011: Sailor evacuated off ship.At 08h30 on 27th July, 2011 NSRI East London were called out for a 27 year old crewman on-board the 300 meter bulk carrier Tleiades who was suffering from a suspected allergic reaction (anaphylaxis).The ship was 15 nautical miles off East London, in 2 meter swells and a 10 knot South Westerly wind, and is sailing from Brazil to Singapore.NSRI East London volunteers launched the deep-sea rescue craft Spirit of Lotto accompanied by a Dynamic Ambulance Service paramedic.The sailor, an Indian national, was found to be in a satisfactory condition and was transferred onto the sea rescue boat and brought to East London. He has been transported to hospital by a Dynamic Ambulance Service ambulance in a stable condition.
