Twelve Volunteers from the NSRI SRHU, Simons Town, Gordons Bay, Cape Town, Melkbos and Hout Bay stations attended at Swift Water Rescue Training course run by Metro Rescue. The course ran over 2 days at the Palmiet River near Betty's Bay. Students are trained in dangers of swift water and how to safely navigate a fast flowing river as well as the variousrescue techniques used to recover a casualty trapped in strong flowing water.This course improves the NSRI rescue swimmers capabilities and enables NSRI to respond to inland emergencies should it ever be required.
