Sea Rescue – Simon's Town – 18 April, 2011: 3 fishermen assisted:At 14h50 NSRI Simon's Town volunteers were called out after eye-witness reports of a ski-boat shooting off red distress flares 1 nautical mile off Millers Point near Simonstown. We launched our sea rescue boat Spirit of Safmarine III and on arrival on-scene found 3 Crayfish Quota fishermen aboard their 18 foot ski-boat had run out of fuel returning from Kalk Bay. They were at anchor but the anchor had started to drag, in the 1 meter swell with a 25 knot South Easterly wind, and they had set off red distress flares.A tow-line was rigged and the casualty boat was towed to Simon's Town harbor where we assisted the 3 fishermen, who are from Steenberg, to recover their boat.
