Sea Rescue – Port Elizabeth – 09 April, 2011: Sailor evacuated off ship:At 12h30 the SA Air Force 15 Squadron - Charlie Flight (Port Elizabeth) were tasked to evacuate a 32 year old Indian crewman, aboard the French crude oil carrier BW Utah, suffering a suspected bleeding ulcer.NSRI Port Elizabeth sent two NSRI rescue swimmers and a Netcare 911 paramedic to accompany the SAAF flight aboard a BK-117 helicopter which departed Port Elizabeth at 14h30 to rendezvous with the bulk carrier 30 nautical miles East of Port Elizabeth.On arrival on-scene the helicopter landed on the deck of the BW Utah where the paramedic initiated treatment to the patient before he was loaded into the helicopter and flown to hospital in East London.
