Four new Mitsubishi Triton 4x4 rescue vehicles, sponsored by the Lotto, are ready to go to their new homes. The vehicles are custom kitted for the rescue environment with special lights, bull bars and tow bars as well as Altech Netstar tracking units. They will be sent to Table Bay, Richards Bay, Knysna and Melkbosstrand. These stations will pass on their hand-me down vehicles to rescue bases at Port Edward and Port St Johns. Knysna does not have a vehicle to pass on and the Melkbosstrand vehicle will be sold. Our NSRI volunteers take good care of our assets and because a call out can happen at any time – often in the worst weather, our vehicles are kept in excellent condition.
