This weekends spring tide, which coincided with a cyclone off Madagascar, wreaked havoc on the KZN South Coast and seems to have caused a drowning in the Uvongo lagoon.Higher up the coast, at Richards Bay, NSRI volunteer Brynn Gericke, was out with her camera photographing surfers who made use of the larger than normal surf combined with the spring tide.

In this set of photos ( Below) a wave breaks over a man forcing him into the railing at the dolphin viewing platform. Standing here is a pastime that few can ignore when there are big waves running. Fortunately the railing protected the man from being washed into the dolosse. It did however cause some injury when the force of the water held him against the railing. He had a cut on his cheekbone, minor abrasions and muscular damage to his upper left arm. He was advised to consult a doctor.
