Dennis Stephenson who joined NSRI, Station 3, just after Christmas in 1972 at the age of twenty,passed away on Friday 11 February 2011.Ex station commander Pat Van Eyssen did military service with him in Oudshoorn and while Pat Joined the old Station1, Dennis joined Station 3. The two stations merged and it was not long after that when Dennis was elected to the position of Deputy station commander of Station 3, under Chris Darge.“Dennis was a jolly fellow, he was always smiling. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He was a great bloke,” said Pat.Dennis had a stroke a number of years back and then stood down from active duty.“Even after his stroke, which he did not fully recover from, he was still laughing and smiling.“Everyone got on with Dennis,” said Pat.Dennis’s funeral will be on Friday afternoon the 18th February at 15:00 at the New Apostolic Church, De Grendal Avenue, Bothasig.Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
