Sea Rescue – Fish Hoek – 06 January, 2011: Man drowns – Fish Hoek:At 14h53 NSRI Simon's Town were activated following reports of a drowning in progress at fish Hoek beach.NSRI Simon's Town prepared to launch rescue craft and Metro EMS, Metro Red Cross AMS helicopter, the SA Police Service and CMR (Cape Medical Response paramedics) responded.Prior to the NSRI and the rescue helicopters arrival on-scene it was confirmed that Fish Hoek surf lifeguards had rescued a 30 year old Delft man from the surf and the Fish Hoek Surf lifeguards had commenced CPR (Cardio Pulmonary resuscitation) efforts on the man on the beach.Advanced Life support CPR continued on the arrival of CMR paramedics and Metro EMS paramedics and after extensive efforts to resuscitate the man were exhausted on-scene he was declared dead.Police have opened an inquest docket.
