Sea Rescue – Cape Town – 13 January, 2011:At 12h41 NSRI Simon's Town were called out following a request for assistance from the yacht Tahlita reporting to be struggling against a 40 knot South Easterly wind 5 nautical miles East of Simon's Town.NSRI Simon's Town launched their rescue craft Spirit of Safmarine III and on arrival a tow-line was rigged and the yacht was towed safely into Simonstown harbour.The yacht, sailing from Mossel Bay to Gordon’s Bay with 2 males and a female onboard was not able to dock in Gordon’s Bay harbour earlier in the day due to strong winds.At 15h38 NSRI Bakoven launched their rescue craft Spirit of Rotary Table Bay to assist Netcare 911 paramedics who were treating a patient for a suspected spinal injury onboard a charter boat in calm water just off Camps Bay Beach.A 40 year old female from Welkom, reportedly suffering osteoporosis and a previous spinal compression fracture, was transferred onto the NSRI rescue craft and taken onto the beach secured to a spinal board, where she was transported to hospital by a Netcare 911 ambulance for further treatment in a stable condition.
