On Saturday Titan Helicopters received a call from the bulk carrier MV Friendly Seas that an injured Phillipino sailor needed to be evacuated. The vessels was en route from Brazil to India and was not intending to stop in Cape Town but would divert for a helicopter rendezvous.The team took off at 16h00 from the Titan Helicopters Base near the container terminal. Arriving overhead the vessel at 16h33 the helicopter was on scene for 6 minutes before returning to Cape Town with the sailor onboard. We landed at exactly 17h00 and the sailor was met and taken to hospital by the ship's agent.This is the tenth medivac ( Medical evacuation) undertaken this year by the NSRI Titan Helicopters High Line team. This team is the continuation of the original Court Helicopters High Line team which became CHC for a time, before CHC sold ship service operation to Titan Helicopters. The team uses predominantly a Bell 212 helicopter for these missions.
