URGENT: Sea Rescue – Durban – 27 December, 2010:
A stand-up paddle boarder was seen by eye-witnesses off-shore of Glen Ashley Beach, also in the vicinity of Blue Lagoon and moving quickly, quite far out to sea, in the direction of Durban’s main beaches, towards Durban City.
The stand-up paddle boarder is believed to be wearing dark swimming trunks and is suspected to be in difficulty.
NSRI Durban volunteers have launched sea rescue craft, the Discovery surf Rescue helicopter has joined in the extensive search and lifeguards along the coastline have launched rescue rubber-ducks and lifeguards in lifeguard towers, along the shore front, are using binoculars to assist in the search.
