URGENT: Sea Rescue – Durban – 27 December, 2010:A stand-up paddle boarder was seen by eye-witnesses off-shore of Glen Ashley Beach, also in the vicinity of Blue Lagoon and moving quickly, quite far out to sea, in the direction of Durban’s main beaches, towards Durban City.The stand-up paddle boarder is believed to be wearing dark swimming trunks and is suspected to be in difficulty.NSRI Durban volunteers have launched sea rescue craft, the Discovery surf Rescue helicopter has joined in the extensive search and lifeguards along the coastline have launched rescue rubber-ducks and lifeguards in lifeguard towers, along the shore front, are using binoculars to assist in the search.We are appealing to anyone with information pertaining to this incident, anyone who can identify this stand-up paddle boarder, to call the NSRI Durban sea rescue emergency number 031-3618567 or 0832762766 (please do not use these numbers unless you have information pertaining to this incident or if you are reporting a sea rescue emergency)We are also appealing to the stand-up paddle boarder himself, if you have made it safely back to shore safely, please call sea rescue on any of these two emergency phone numbers.
