PORT ALFRED: Stephen Slade, NSRI Port Alfred deputy station commander, said: At 10h12, Saturday, 23rd June, NSRI Port Alfred medical crew assisted an adult male at Shelly Beach parking area. The man was reported by bystanders to be suffering seizures. Our NSRI medics stabilised the patient and a Gardmed ambulance was summoned to the scene

Reports of a boat capsized:

Our sea rescue craft Rescue 11 Alpha was launched and our NSRI rescue vehicle responded to stand-by at the beach

Assistance at serious motor vehicle accident:

  UPDATE: Police divers have recovered the bodies of an adult female and a female toddler from the wreck of the motor vehicle. Paddlers found safe: Port Alfred

All 8 paddlers (not 9 paddlers as was originally believed) were found safe together on the Fish River after being reported overdue. (2 men reported missing from the main group were found at the main group). There was no cell phone signal where they were located. According to friends and family they had been dropped
