The National Sea Rescue Institute is looking for an energetic, committed person to join the marketing and fundraising team in an administrative support role, based at their head office in Milnerton, Cape Town. The position will be responsible for receiving, assessing and managing donor requests and correspondence, and managing general donor administration and queries. It will also provide support to departmental projects like events and activations and support the marketing and social media team in general administration and reporting.

Reporting to: Fundraising Manager

Paterson Grading: C2

Remuneration: Gross Annual R248 560 over 13 months.

*The gross annual includes 13 cheques / pays. Deductions that come off this include 7% pension, 50% medical aid premium and 1% UIF. Benefits over and above the annual amount include 8% pension, 50% medical aid 1% UIF as well as death and disability cover. Errors & Omissions Excepted.


  • Matric
  • Administration or Marketing qualification or diploma
  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role (marketing, customer relations or service environment an advantage)
  • MS Office Suite (MS Dynamics an advantage
  • Social media ability and exposure
  • Excellent administration and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer liaison skills
  • Attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate in a team environment

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible to ensure the efficient co-ordination of the administrative function for the Fundraising & Marketing Department.
  • Co-ordinating all operations and projects relating to donor administration, donor liaison, and related admin activities.
  • Updating donor information on CRM as and when changes are received and capturing of new donor information.
  • Completing all documentation relating to bequests.
  • Managing the info@searescue email address ensuring that enquiries are passed on to the relevant person for response.
  • Managing the generic marketing/fundraising email addresses such as; etc. and producing report for management as required.
  • Maintaining departmental calendars & status reports.
  • Coordinate event logistics for the department, including invitations, RSVP’s, event related enquiries etc.
  • Communicating with internal and external contacts/donors using a range of platforms (for example, telephone, email or social media)
  • Social media analytics administration (eg Facebook, Google, etc)
