Vacancies: NSRI West Coast rescue swimmerJob Purpose: To undertake and perform NSRI surf rescue patrol duties at the designated beaches and inland waters in the Cederberg Municipal area and undertake the utilization of skills and knowledge from our training to maintain the safety of the public on the beach.Positions: x 18Lamberts Bay, Clanwilliam and Elands BayInterviews will be held on 9 and 10 November 2018Training: 12 November – 17 November 2018Remuneration is R300 per duty day (excluding training where only lunch will be provided)Duty Hours 10:00 – 18:00 with overtime per hour as and when deemed needed by the manager.Duration of seasonal contract: 19 November – 15 January and the Easter weekendApplicants must have good fitness and swimming ability which will be tested on the interview day.Key Responsibility Areas: Performing surf patrol duties at Lamberts Bay, Elands Bay or Clanwilliam Dam. Educating the public on dangerous and hazardous areas. Perform pro-active patrolling. Conducting and assisting with rescues, rendering first aid.Setting out the safe swimming area promptly with all the required equipment as instructed and on time. Helping with lost children and assist authorities with uniting them with their parents or guardians, in conjunction with Law Enforcement. Attending all training courses, seminars and missions as instructed by superiors and undertakes regular skills and fitness training as per the organisations requirements. Upholding the professional image of the NSRI by maintaining a courteous relationship with the public at all times. Ensuring all documentation is completed and uploaded on a daily basis.Requirements:
  • Good swimming and fitness ability
  • Must live in the Cederberg Municipal area
  • 16 years or older
  • Must pass a regular medical and drug test
  • Previous experience as a lifeguard is an advantage
Surf rescue swimmers will report directly to the Team Leader and Surf Rescue ManagerSuccessful applicants will undergo continuous fitness training and assessments.Incumbents must be willing to work overtime when required and approved by the Surf Rescue Manager.Applicants should send a CV that includes details of their swimming ability and other relevant qualifications to seini@searescue.org.zaNotes:Applications will not be acknowledged and no copies of supporting documents will be returned.
