Dave Smith, NSRI Kommetjie deputy station commander, said: At 13h18, Monday, 05 June, NSRI Kommetjie duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from the crayfish bakkie (small open fishing boat) STEFA reporting motor mechanical failure off-shore of Platboom, Cape Point, with 3 local fishermen onboard.
The sea rescue craft Spirit of the Vines was launched and on arrival on the scene the 3 fishermen were found safe off-shore of Platboom, Cape Point, on their fishing boat STEFA that had suffered motor mechanical failure.
A towline was rigged and we towed them to the Crayfish Factory slip way where their boat was recovered and they required no further assistance.
