Over the past two weeks, our Life Boat Club (for retired members and supporters) hosted various events around the country. Below are some highlights:
A tea and tour at Station 3 Table Bay was held for members from the City and Atlantic Seaboard area. Patrick van Eyssen (Class 1 Coxswain) and Quentin Botha (Station Commander) shared rescue stories with our LBC members. After the talk they were taken on a base tour and enjoyed tea with the crew.
Theresa, our bequest officer met with Mrs Brenda Shear during the week who received her bequest certificate at the Social Bean Café.
Helen did a presentation for the Durban Umhlatuzana Rotary Club and one of their members is Wally Pelser who is featured in our latest magazine story “A Close Shave”. What a small world!
Helen and Janet were joined by Roy Weinand and George Petzer (crewmembers at Station 5 Durban) to host a really enjoyable open day tour at Durban Rescue Base. Donors, friends and LBC members came together for tea and cake, a talk and a most interesting tour of the boats.
Welcome to all our new members that joined the Life Boat Club. We also received 8 bequests to Sea Rescue. If you would like to be part of the Life Boat Club and be invited to teas and tours, then send Natasha an email – firstname.lastname@example.org
