At just after 09h00 on Friday the 25th of April, NSRI Shelly Beach volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from the ski-boat SWELL TIME reporting to have motor mechanical failure just outside the back of the surf line at Shelly Beach with 5 crew onboard.
NSRI Shelly Beach launched their sea rescue craft CALTEX CHALLENGER II accompanied by a marine motor mechanic. Unfortunately, could not repair the motors to satisfaction at sea and the 5 crew of the boat were taken over onto the sea rescue craft and brought safely ashore aboard CALTEX CHALLENGER II. The marine motor mechanic brought the casualty boat safely to the beach under reduced power.
Once safely ashore no further assistance was required and the owner will have the boat’s motors repairs.
