Volunteers should have previous experience on boats, radio operation, navigation or first aid. Own reliable transport and cell phone is essential. If you prefer to stay on dry land you could assist with admin, maintenance tasks and training.
Volunteering is not glamorous work, there is a lot of training and a whole lot of cleaning up involved. Training exercises are done after hours and on weekends and it will take six months before you are ready for a real-life rescue.
