Only swim at beaches where and when the lifeguards are on duty. If there are no lifeguards on duty, simply do not swim. They will have marker flags to indicate where it is safe to go in the water. There will be a life saver on a tower watching the swimmers – listen to their instructions. The flags may be moved during the day to avoid rip currents that will change position as the tides change.
Always have the relevant NSRI emergency number in your cell phone as well as the general emergency number 10177.
Many of the lifeguards are unpaid volunteers. Please take a moment to thank them.
