Cape Town Boat Show

Events, News / 8 October 2010

The rescue demonstrations with a Dragon boat, and the life raft inflation, in the Alfred basin,V&A Waterfront, went off well on Saturday. A couple of hundred people got to see how a raft is inflated and how the sea rescue crews deal with the rafts. Both the raft and flares were sponsored by Nova Marine for the demonstration. The final demo, also a life raft inflation, will be in the Alfred basin on Sunday 10 October at 12 noon in the Alfred Basin ( Between the Coke man and the Cape Grace).

The Cape Town International Boat show has opened at the CTICC. Sea Rescue, as usual,  has a stand, kindly donated by the organisers. Visit us and see the newly launched 6.5 m Gemini, Spirit of the Vines, which was launched on Thursday evening. There are plenty of giveaways and some fine memorabilia to buy. Check out our new “3D font” caps, Frisbee and world famous lip-ice!  The show runs from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 October.

A silent auction of Andrew Ingram photographs on canvass will run over the three days. The highest bidder on each print gets to take it home.
