VACANCY: Lifeguard Training Coordinator

PATERSON GRADING: D1

REMUNERATION: Gross Annual – R 381 277*

DESCRIPTION:

  • We are looking for a Lifeguard Training Coordinator to train candidates within Sea Rescue stations as Lifeguards and Class 4 Coxswains.
  • The successful candidate must be able to lead by example with a very high safety and skill level in both inshore rescue vessels and swimming ability as well as good presentation and people skills.
  • The job will include designing and presenting Lifeguard / Jet Ski / ATV courses to NSRI crew, as well as supervising and mentoring training officers, training assistants and training administrators in support of the vision, mission and strategy of the institute.
  • This is a full time, Cape Town based position, where working hours are not structured on a typical Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm cycle.
  • This position calls for a lot of flexibility with most of the training being scheduled on weekends and after hours.
  • The job will involve extensive travelling to stations nationwide to evaluate, assess and mentor volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric
  • Driver’s License
  • A solid training and development background in the NSRI and Lifeguarding is required and the ideal candidate will have an outcomes based education mindset.
  • The post is suited to a strong leader, who is humble and diligent.
  • Discipline, strong administrative and communication skills are a must.
  • Character traits should include enthusiasm, integrity, patience, self-control, loyalty, confidentiality and a positive outlook on life.
  • A training and development qualification is a must, preferably with a Sea Rescue background (Coxswain Certificate).

EXPERIENCE:

  • The ideal candidate should have at least five years’ experience in a training role, as well as two years supervisory experience.
  • This position will report to the Drowning Prevention Manager.

DESCRIPTION:

  • We are looking for a training administrator to arrange course logistics including course bookings, travel arrangements, catering bookings, arranging certificates and serving refreshments to candidates on courses.
  • Reporting to the Training Manager, they will also be responsible for the administration of our eLearning programme (including student enrolments / de-enrolments), SAMSA coxswain applications, managing version control of documents and policies as well as tracking SAMSA surveys and license renewals.
  • The post is suited to a humble, hard-working, diligent person with discipline and strong administrative skills.
  • This is a full time, Cape Town based position. where working hours are structured on a typical Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm cycle.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric
  • Administration certificate / diploma or equivalent
  • Driver’s license, preferably with own transport.
  • A working knowledge of email, SharePoint, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel is essential.

EXPERIENCE:

  • The ideal candidate should have two years’ administrative experience.

VACANCY: Training Officer (theoretical)

REMUNERATION: Gross Annual – R 345 628*

DESCRIPTION:

  • Sea Rescue is looking to appoint a Training Officer to conduct the theoretical training and assessment of internal volunteer crew, as well as external public.
  • Reporting to the Training Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the theoretical component of the NSRI training system.
  • This will involve setting a high standard for both classroom based theoretical training courses as well practical training.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for content creation, content sourcing and presentation of various lectures.
  • This is a full time, Cape Town based position.  where working hours are structured on a typical Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm cycle.
  • This position calls for flexibility with training being scheduled on weekends and after hours.
  • Responsibilities will include ownership of the eLearning systems (internal volunteer as well as public BravoBravo courses); creating task books, manuals as well as presenting courses to volunteers and public.

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Matric, as well as a relevant diploma / degree.
  • A proven track record of training and content creation.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at the same time is a must.
  • Must be an excellent verbal and written communicator.
  • Must be digitally proficient.
  • Must have familiarised themselves with the NSRI eLearning Academy & BravoBravo, in order to train stations to use the tools effectively

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years’ service at Sea Rescue or a similar marine based organisation with a focus on theoretical marine training.
  • Character traits should include enthusiasm, integrity, patience, self-control, loyalty, confidentiality and a positive outlook on life.

  • The incumbent will be responsible for planning, organising, leading and directing various courses.
  • This is a full time, Cape Town based position, where working hours are not structured on a typical Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm cycle.
  • This position calls for a lot of flexibility with most of the training being scheduled on weekends and after hours.
  • The job will involve extensive travelling to stations nationwide to evaluate, assess and mentor volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Matric.
  • Relevant diploma or degree.
  • A proven track record of training and mentoring adults is required.
  • Must have familiarised themselves with the NSRI eLearning academy, in order to train stations to use the tools effectively.
  • A class 3 Coxswain ticket is required, along with a driver’s license (preferably code EB or higher).

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years’ service at Sea Rescue or a similar marine based organisation with a focus on practical marine training
  • Served in a leadership position and have embraced the goals and values of the Institute.
  • Character traits should include enthusiasm, integrity, patience, self-control, loyalty, confidentiality and a positive outlook on life.
