Hout Bay rescue boat off for refit

The MTU-Nadine Gordimer, Hout Bay’s deep sea rescue boat, has been taken out of the water at the Royal Cape Yacht Club. She will spend the next four months having Volvo D6 engines put in, a complete rewire, a respray and a few other technical details sorted out.

This planned maintenance will ensure that she can remain in service for another couple of decades!

  1. Well done Mark Hughes! We are looking forward to getting her back soon. She will be missed while she is being refurbished.

She had an amazing ride in as the old boat…….huge pod of dolphins playing in her wake. I’m sure they will be waiting to welcome the new MTU Nadine Gordimer back. Thank you to all involved

    Great bit of video coverage.
Can’t wait to see the video of her going back into the water.
